Jimena Velarde-Alvarez (b. 2001) is an artist currently based in Providence, Rhode Island. Born and Raised in Lima, Peru, she is currently a BFA Painting student at Rhode Island School of Design. She reflects on the tension between permanence and impermanence and employs themes of introspection and connection, as well as time and memory, to delve into the fluidity of existence and the transient nature of reality. Her aim is to evoke a deeper awareness of self and the universe. Her works range from paintings, drawings, sculptures, and prints.
